Wicked Co-Stars' Necklace Fixing Frenzy Sparks Backlash from Fans
17 Nov
Summary
- Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo's 'bizarre' red carpet exchanges
- Erivo adjusts Grande's necklace for prolonged period despite no visible issues
- Fans call the interaction 'ridiculous' and claim Erivo 'made the positioning worse'

In the lead-up to the release of the second Wicked film, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo's on-screen chemistry has been overshadowed by their bizarre red carpet exchanges. A resurfaced video from the promotional tour for the first Wicked movie shows Erivo, 38, stopping an interview to adjust Grande's, 32, diamond necklace for a prolonged period of time.
Many fans have claimed there was 'nothing wrong with her necklace' in the first place, and others have called the interaction 'ridiculous.' As Erivo starts twisting the necklace, Grande says, 'something is bothering her, she's going to fix something. I know her.' Erivo continues fiddling with the necklace, even going so far as to turn it all the way around to show the clasp, before turning it back again. Fans have criticized Erivo, claiming she 'actually messed it up' and that 'it would be more authentic if she did this off camera.'
This is not the first time the two actresses have raised eyebrows with their over-the-top interactions. Earlier this week, they were mocked for gushing over each other's 'auras' in another cringeworthy press moment. Despite the backlash, Grande and Erivo remain committed to promoting their upcoming film, Wicked: For Good, which is set to hit cinemas on November 21.
