Lincoln Center Theater is bringing a reimagined version of Whoopi Goldberg's iconic 1984 stage show, "The Whoopi Monologues," to the Off-Broadway stage. Performances are scheduled to commence on Tuesday, July 7, at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater, with the official opening night following on Monday, July 13. This production features a notable cast including Kerry Washington, Kara Young, Dominique Fishback, Tony Award winner Kecia Lewis, and Danielle Pinnock.
The creative team behind this new iteration of Goldberg's work has also been announced. The set design is by Studio Bent (Adam Rigg & Anton Volovsek), with costume design by Qween Jean and lighting by Cha See. Fan Zhang is handling sound design, Hana S. Kim is responsible for video design, and Nikiya Mathis is the hair and wig designer. The production is a collaboration with Whoop Inc./Tom Leonardis and Simpson Street Productions.
