Whoopi Returns After Italian Soap Opera Stint

Whoopi Goldberg has resumed her co-hosting duties on The View as of Monday, December 1st. Her absence from the show was attributed to her filming a guest arc on the popular Italian soap opera, 'Un Posto Al Sole,' which took place in Naples. Goldberg described the experience as unique, highlighting the challenges and rewards of performing in a soap opera and in a different language.

The actress and host had announced her upcoming role earlier in the year, expressing excitement about this new venture. Production company Fremantle Italia confirmed that Goldberg's character would make its debut on the show in 2026, as part of a story that spans multiple episodes. She acknowledged that her Italian skills were not perfect but assured that arrangements were made for her role.

Speaking about the opportunity on a podcast, Goldberg revealed the role came about as she was seeking new experiences outside of her regular hosting duties.
