Bradley Whitford is set to star in a new Broadway production of Aaron Sorkin's seminal courtroom drama, "A Few Good Men." Directed by six-time Tony winner Michael Arden, the play will commence previews on October 8 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, with an official opening night scheduled for October 29 for a limited 13-week engagement.
Whitford, who previously collaborated with Sorkin on "The West Wing," will embody the formidable Lt. Col. Nathan Jessep, a character famously depicted by Jack Nicholson in the 1992 film. Tom Blyth will make his Broadway debut as lawyer Lt. j.g. Daniel A. Kaffee, the role originated by Tom Cruise on screen.
Originally premiering on Broadway in 1989, Sorkin's play explores themes of institutional loyalty versus truth as a young lawyer defends two Marines accused of murder. The production aims to capture the intense drama and iconic courtroom exchanges that have made "A Few Good Men" a lasting favorite. Tickets go on sale to the public on July 21.
