The second season of Apple TV+'s German dark comedy, "Where's Wanda?", is set to premiere globally on October 21, with episodes releasing weekly through December 9. The series picks up with Wanda, played by Lea Drinda, seemingly caught at a crime scene and taken to jail.
Her parents, Carlotta and Dedo Klatt, must work to prove Wanda's innocence and uncover the real killer. Their investigation delves into the secrets of their quiet town, Sundersheim. The new season promises more screen time for Wanda and introduces new characters, including the international couple, the Kimballs.
Executive producer Nataly Kudiabor highlighted that Season 2 focuses on the family's crisis and their efforts to rebuild after Wanda's return and subsequent arrest. The series, which was Apple TV+'s first German original, has been a significant success for UFA Fiction.
UFA Fiction, a prolific German production company, has also had success with "Maxton Hall - The World Between Us" for Prime Video. The German production market is currently navigating challenges with funding outside of global streamers, with companies like UFA Fiction focusing on high-quality storytelling and international co-productions.
