Wendy Williams' Lawyer Predicts End of Guardianship Soon

The TV personality Wendy Williams could be freed from her guardianship before the year concludes, according to her lawyer. Williams has been under court supervision since 2022 and was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia in the subsequent year. However, recent medical findings suggest she may not have frontotemporal dementia, a development that bolsters efforts to terminate the guardianship.

Her attorney, Joe Tacopina, stated that lawyers have assured Williams her release from guardianship is expected by year's end. Tacopina believes any memory impairments Williams experienced may stem from alleged alcohol abuse, rather than dementia. He asserted that the absence of frontotemporal dementia should resolve the matter.

Williams was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and primary progressive aphasia in 2023, but has contested her incapacitation and sought an end to the guardianship, asserting she is being controlled against her will. A recent neurologist's opinion, following tests, concluded she does not have FTP, and experts note that individuals with FTD do not typically improve, unlike Williams, who has shown resilience since becoming sober.
