Summary
- MCU embraces increasingly strange cosmic and multiversal concepts.
- Marvel's vast comic history offers many bizarre characters.
- Odd creations can find a place within the MCU's expanding universe.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is increasingly exploring the realms of the cosmic, the extra-dimensional, and the multiversal. This embrace of the bizarre has led to popular characters like a talking tree and a gun-toting raccoon, alongside reality-warping heroes such as Doctor Strange and the Scarlet Witch.
Marvel Comics, with its origins in 1939, possesses a vast canon rich with peculiar heroes and villains. Some creations are strange in concept or execution, others might seem outmoded or too surreal for modern adaptation. However, the MCU's capacity for callbacks and Easter eggs means there is ample room for these oddities.
These unique characters, while perhaps a mismatch for previous eras, are well-suited for the MCU's current trajectory. The franchise has demonstrated a willingness to integrate the unconventional, suggesting that even the most bizarre figures from Marvel's extensive history could make their way to the screen.
