Summary
- Weezer achieves ninth No. 1 on Alternative Airplay.
- The band ties Pearl Jam for most Alternative Albums top 10s.
- Wednesday features on Weezer's chart-topping track.

Weezer has secured its ninth No. 1 hit on Billboard's Alternative Airplay chart with the song "We Might as Well Be Strangers." This accomplishment places the band in an exclusive club, as they are only the seventh act in the chart's 38-year history to achieve at least nine chart-toppers. They now stand alongside legendary bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Linkin Park.
The track, released June 3, reached the summit of the Alternative Airplay chart. "We Might as Well Be Strangers" is Weezer's first charting title since signing with Reprise/Warner Records earlier this year. The song is featured on Weezer's 20th studio album, "Weezer (Gold Album)," which was released in August and debuted at No. 6 on the Alternative Albums chart.
Furthermore, the album made Weezer's 13th top 10 entry on the Alternative Albums chart, tying them with Pearl Jam for the most in the chart's history. The featured artist on "We Might as Well Be Strangers," Wednesday, also has a history on the charts, with three songs previously charting on Adult Alternative Airplay.
