An animated TV series adaptation of Erin Hunter's best-selling Warrior Cats novels is in development. Renowned showrunner A.C. Bradley and director Rodrigo Blaas are leading the project. Publishers Coolabi Group and Tencent Video have officially greenlit the series.
Production has now begun, with the series slated for a 2028 release. It will premiere on Tencent Video's platforms, serving audiences across China and Southeast Asia. This marks the first authorized animated adaptation of the beloved feral cat clans.
The adaptation will draw inspiration from the initial book series, 'Warrior Cats: The Prophecies Begin.' This venture follows an earlier attempt at a Warrior Cats film adaptation that was eventually abandoned.
Tencent Video's Co-President & COO, Tina Ma, expressed excitement about bringing the Warrior Cats world to new audiences. The franchise boasts over 90 million book sales globally and significant online popularity, including billions of views on TikTok and extensive engagement on Roblox.
In addition to the animated series, Coolabi and Tencent Video are also developing an animated Warrior Cats film. Meanwhile, a retail tie-in between Coolabi and Bonkers Toys in the U.S. has introduced the first licensed Warrior Cats toys to the market.
