On October 17, 2025, it was announced that acclaimed actor Walton Goggins will star alongside Amber Midthunder in the action thriller "Painter," which has just been acquired by 20th Century Studios. The project is being produced under FilmNation's Infrared Pictures banner.
"Painter" is written by "John Wick" creator Derek Kolstad and marks the feature directorial debut of acclaimed stunt specialist Garrett Warren. The film centers on a young woman who has been trained from a young age and must employ every skill in her arsenal to rescue her father after he is kidnapped.
The project was brought to 20th Century Studios with James Cameron serving as executive producer. Originally, "Reacher" star Alan Ritchson was attached to star opposite Midthunder, but had to bow out due to scheduling conflicts.
Goggins, who was recently nominated for an Emmy for his work on the third season of "White Lotus," and Midthunder, who recently starred in Paramount's "Novacaine" and A24's "Opus," are set to lead the thrilling action film.
