An exhibition featuring a recently discovered archive of photographs from 1980s Walsall is launching on May 9, 2026. The images, taken by late photographer and journalist Sharon Hepburn, were found in a loft after her passing.
The collection includes hundreds of images depicting street markets, homeless hostels, factories, and clubs from the decade. Of these, 40 photographs will be showcased at The Table Coffee Shop on Lower Hall Lane, beginning at 18:00 BST as part of the Fotofest 2026 Visual Expo.
Sharon Hepburn, who died in 2023 at age 62, studied visual arts from 1982 to 1985 and used her photography extensively for documentaries. Her family plans to publish her wider archive online and in a printed collection, hoping individuals featured in her street photography may recognize themselves and connect through the online resource.
