In a bid to capture attention for its Black Friday and holiday shopping promotions, Walmart has turned to actor Walton Goggins to revive the role of The Grinch. Goggins, known for his complex characters in series like "The Shield" and "Justified," has been appearing in Walmart ads since June and was tapped to take on the iconic Dr. Seuss character.
Goggins admits he was initially hesitant about the idea, as The Grinch is one of the most beloved literary characters in the world. However, after immersing himself in the story and the way the author described the character, Goggins found the right approach. He says the moment he saw himself fully adorned in the prosthetics, he knew he had captured the essence of The Grinch - someone who is "just irritated, slightly annoyed."
Alongside Goggins' Grinch, Walmart is also promoting a range of deals for the holiday season. These include a 10-in-1 game table set available for $149.99, a Flashforge Adventurer 3D printer that sells for $229, and an iHome towel warmer listed for $34.24. The company has used similar tactics in recent years, tapping into popular TV shows and movies to generate buzz for its Black Friday and Cyber Monday promotions.
