Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the actor behind The Walking Dead's notorious villain Negan, continues to experience strong reactions from fans who conflate him with his character. Morgan revealed on a podcast that he regularly faces public anger and confrontations due to Negan's on-screen actions, particularly the brutal killings of beloved characters Abraham Ford and Glenn Rhee. These events, which occurred during the series' initial popularity in 2016, left a lasting impression on the audience.

Morgan recounted an extreme instance where an elderly woman in Georgia physically assaulted him with her purse and verbally abused him in a coffee shop. He also noted that such confrontations are common even today in public spaces like New York streets. Despite the ongoing animosity, Morgan expresses a sense of amusement and philosophical acceptance, stating that he has grown used to it and it is "part of the deal."

While he once defended Negan's complex character arc in the post-apocalyptic world, Morgan now adopts a more detached stance, finding the intense fan reactions "hilarious." He acknowledges that Negan remains a deeply divisive character, with fans either loving or hating him, reflecting the character's significant impact on the show's narrative and its devoted following.
