- Stage Four oesophageal cancer was diagnosed eight weeks prior.
- He bravely performed an open-air concert before his passing.

Dean Boroczky, a talented musician who competed on The Voice UK and gained support from Paloma Faith, has died at the age of 37. He was tragically misdiagnosed with heartburn, which delayed the detection of his Stage Four oesophageal cancer. Boroczky passed away just eight weeks after receiving his correct diagnosis.
Boroczky, who performed as Dean Franklin, experienced discomfort that his GP attributed to heartburn. After his condition worsened significantly in December 2025, he sought emergency care, leading to the discovery of advanced cancer. Despite the devastating diagnosis and undergoing urgent chemotherapy, he died on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
Prior to his death, Boroczky demonstrated his enduring passion for music by performing a final open-air concert in London, an event attended by hundreds of fans and described as highly emotional. His family is now committed to raising awareness about oesophageal cancer and its often-underestimated symptoms, particularly in younger individuals.
