The Voice Loses a Coach for Season 29
22 Feb
Summary
- The Voice season 29 will feature only three coaches.
- NBC's NBA broadcast schedule led to fewer episodes.
- Teams will consist of 10 singers each.

The Voice is set to debut its 29th season with a notable change: the coaching panel will be reduced to three members, a first in the show's history. This adjustment stems from NBC's decision to incorporate NBA games into its primetime schedule, resulting in fewer episodes for the singing competition.
Executive Producer Audrey Morrissey explained that the reduced episode count directly influenced the number of contestants and the necessity for a fourth coach. Season 29 will feature 30 singers in total, with each of the three coaches—John Legend, Kelly Clarkson, and Adam Levine—leading a team of 10. This contrasts with previous seasons that had larger casts and more contestants per team.
Further adding to the season's excitement, an "In-Season All-Star Competition" will take place. Each coach will bring back two fan-favorite past contestants to compete in head-to-head battles. This competition aims to earn their respective coaches an additional artist for the finale. The season will also forgo live episodes, with finale voting determined by an in-studio audience of past contestants and superfans.
