Actor Vivek Sinha has defended his decision to portray a villainous character in the upcoming films 'Dhurandhar' (2025) and 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' (2026). Sinha, who plays hijacker Zahoor Mistry, recently shared an interaction where a viewer messaged him on Instagram, expressing shame for him accepting the role for financial gain and for his character's dialogue.
In response, Sinha explained that to portray dangerous characters realistically, actors must embody them. He posed a rhetorical question, asking if filmmakers should recruit actual Pakistani terrorists or convicted murderers to play such roles. Sinha stated that actors are needed to authentically depict the mindset and cruelty of such individuals, using his character's line about Hindus being cowardly as an example.
'Dhurandhar' is set to release in 2025, with its sequel, 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge', slated for 2026. The sequel features a prominent cast including Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R. Madhavan. The films are co-produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios.
