Now, Malhotra is turning his attention to what he describes as the most important project of his career: Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari. Set to release in two parts, with Part 1 during Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027, the film aims to bring the revered Indian epic to life on a scale never seen before.
The first official teaser, released on August 3, 2025, has already captured widespread attention online, with both fans and industry insiders praising its visuals, emotional depth, and cultural authenticity. Malhotra explains that this version of Ramayana will differ from previous adaptations, as it will showcase the epic battles, the grandeur of the characters, and the dramatic moments in a cinematic way, using state-of-the-art visuals and production quality.
Produced by Prime Focus Studios in association with the eight-time Oscar-winning DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations, Ramayana is being developed as a two-part global release in IMAX, promising a visually rich and emotionally resonant experience rooted in one of India's most enduring stories. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, further adding to the anticipation surrounding this cinematic event.
