Summary
- Vishwatma was more successful than Tridev, says Rajiv Rai.
- The film remains a favorite, especially on satellite TV.
- The song 'Saat Samundar Paar' is still popular today.

Filmmaker Rajiv Rai has vociferously defended the box office performance of his 1992 film Vishwatma, stating it was more successful than the earlier hit Tridev. This assertion comes 34 years after its release, challenging the prevailing perception that Vishwatma underperformed.
Rai argues that while the press and critics at the time may not have recognized its success, the audience has consistently favored Vishwatma. He notes its enduring popularity on television and streaming platforms, with the song 'Saat Samundar Paar' remaining a chart-topper even today.
He further elaborates that Vishwatma was the biggest money-spinner for Trimurti Films, a fact his late father, producer Gulshan Rai, would have readily confirmed. Rai expressed frustration that he often hesitates to discuss the film's success for fear of being perceived as exaggerating its value.
