David Carmi, a 26-year-old influencer from Brooklyn, has captivated social media audiences with his project, "Confidence Heist." He approaches strangers, including celebrities, on the streets of New York City, asking them a singular question: "What makes you confident?"

Carmi's most viral moment occurred recently when he interviewed Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper, marking their first public conversation as a couple. Cooper shared that "being alive" fuels his confidence, while Hadid offered the advice to "take it day by day."

His own journey toward confidence began after surviving a near-fatal car accident five years ago. The subsequent year of recovery and bed rest led him to journaling, a practice that facilitated self-reflection and helped him identify his struggles with confidence and social anxiety.

Encouraged by a friend, Carmi took a leap of faith in September 2022, venturing onto the streets to start his interviews. Despite initial hesitations, he found the process of "self-exposure" and building rapport with strangers to be a rewarding path toward self-improvement.

Carmi emphasizes that his interviews are organic, never staged. He has interviewed numerous notable figures, including Kaia Gerber, Charli XCX, and Ralph Lauren. He values the vulnerability and authenticity that emerge from these spontaneous encounters.

Reflecting on his personal definition of confidence, Carmi states it stems from faith, consistency, facing fears daily, having a vision, and executing it with patience and kindness. He aims for people to ultimately find self-love and acceptance, recognizing their own worth beyond comparison.
