International sales banner Charades has boarded "In a Violent Nature 2," the follow-up to the 2024 horror sensation. The film is slated for a substantial market presence at the EFM in Berlin.
"In a Violent Nature" premiered at Sundance in 2024 and achieved cult status following its theatrical and streaming release. The sequel, currently in post-production after principal photography in Canada since September, features Ry Barrett reprising his role as Johnny.
Johnny, the vengeful undead killer, embarks on a new bloody spree after his locket is stolen by teens. This time, his path leads to a summer camp where he encounters a young outcast and their friends at an end-of-season party.
The film is directed by Nathaniel Wilson and written by Chris Nash. Producers include Peter Kuplowsky, Shannon Hanmer, Chris Nash, and Michael James Regan, with Liane Cunje as co-producer.
Charades' co-founders expressed excitement for the film's vision, promising "more kills, more blood, hopefully even more iconic." Producer Peter Kuplowsky highlighted his history with Charades, anticipating an "exponential increase of the ol' ultraviolence" with a distinct, yet traditional, slasher hook.
