Vincent Cassel is set to portray Napoleon Bonaparte in the first-person Soulslike video game, "Valor Mortis." This supernatural reimagining of 19th-century Europe casts players as William, a resurrected soldier of the Grande Armée. William will wield both Napoleonic-era weaponry and potent supernatural powers.
The game is scheduled to launch on September 24. It will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and X (releasing day one on Xbox Game Pass), and for PC via Steam. A recent trailer, shown during the Xbox Games Showcase, featured Cassel's Napoleon interacting with William. In this preview, Napoleon warns William about his new abilities and poses a critical question about the price of power.
"Valor Mortis" is developed by Kraków-based studio One More Level and published by Lyrical Games, a subsidiary of Lyrical Media. Lyrical Media, which established its game division in 2025, has a notable upcoming film slate, including "The Death of Robin Hood" starring Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer.
