Vince Gilligan, the renowned creator of the critically acclaimed series "Breaking Bad," has unveiled his latest project, the ambitious sci-fi series "Pluribus," on Apple TV+. The show, which premiered on November 7th, 2025, marks Gilligan's first major venture outside of the "Heisenberg universe" he established with "Breaking Bad" and its spin-off "Better Call Saul."
Described as centered on "the most miserable person on Earth," "Pluribus" follows the story of a character named Carol, played by Rhea Seehorn, who is tasked with saving the world from happiness. Gilligan, known for his patient storytelling and visual flair, has spent nearly two decades developing this high-concept project, which boasts a reported budget of $15 million per episode—five times more than the average "Breaking Bad" episode.
Despite the show's unconventional premise and the lack of a big-name star, Apple TV+ is gambling a significant amount of money on the success of "Pluribus," banking on Gilligan's reputation as the creator of one of the most acclaimed television series of all time. The series takes advantage of everything Gilligan has learned about storytelling, combining the patient pacing of "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" with the high-concept ambition of "The X-Files," which Gilligan worked on earlier in his career.
