Vijay's highly anticipated final film, Jana Nayagan, is facing considerable uncertainty ahead of its release on July 23, 2026. Despite crossing Rs 15 crore in advance bookings, pre-sales trail behind previous hits like Leo and GOAT, leading trade experts to lower their opening-day earning expectations. Factors such as an HD leak, a seven-month delay, and an 'A' certification are cited as potential deterrents to its box office success.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala projects domestic Day 1 collections between Rs 50-60 crore and worldwide gross of Rs 75-80 crore, attributing these conservative estimates to the leak and delay. He notes that an 'A' certificate restricts younger audiences, particularly in B and C centers. The film's piracy, with reports of 1.2 crore viewers already watching the leaked version, is a significant concern, potentially impacting repeat viewings.

Conversely, some industry insiders remain optimistic. Ruban Mathivanan of GK Cinemas believes the excitement for Vijay's farewell movie is undiminished, calling it a celebration of the actor's 33-year career. A distributor, speaking anonymously, echoed this sentiment, stating Vijay's films consistently perform well regardless of reviews, and his departure will leave an irreplaceable void in the industry.
