Summary
- Mahavatar, starring Vicky Kaushal, delayed to mid-2026
- Director Amar Kaushik calls it his "huge passion project"
- Extensive 6-7 months of prep work on set design, weapons, and character looks

In a recent exclusive interview, director Amar Kaushik has revealed that his upcoming film Mahavatar, starring Vicky Kaushal, has been postponed to mid-2026. The film, which was earlier scheduled for a Christmas 2026 release, is now expected to go on floors by the middle of next year.
Kaushik explained that the delay is due to the extensive preparation required for the project. The team has been working on the set design, weapon design, and finalizing the look of each character for the past 6-7 months. The director admitted that the scale of the film has him feeling nervous, saying, "Mujhe toh soch ke hi darr lag raha hai."
Mahavatar holds special significance for Kaushik, who has been fascinated by the mythological figure of Parshuram since his childhood in Arunachal Pradesh. He has been determined to bring this story to the big screen and believes his experience in using VFX will help him pull it off.

The delay in Mahavatar's production also means that the film's original Christmas 2026 release date has been taken over by another Maddock Films production, Thamma. Kaushik is also one of the producers and mentors on that project.
Despite the nerves, Kaushik is confident that Mahavatar will be his most ambitious film to date. With Vicky Kaushal set to play the lead role of Chiranjeevi Parashurama, fans can expect a grand cinematic experience when the film finally hits the screens in mid-2026.
