6 Nov
Summary
- Shudder to Think releases two new songs after nearly 30-year break
- Band working on more new music in backyard studio
- Shudder to Think touring for first time in 17 years

In a surprising comeback, veteran Washington, D.C. post-hardcore quintet Shudder to Think has released their first new music in nearly 30 years. The band has shared two new songs, "Thirst Walk" and "Playback," which will be available on a vinyl 7" single through Dischord Records.
According to lead vocalist Craig Wedren, these new tracks are just the beginning of a "trove of new songs" the band is working on together. The group has been recording the new material at Wedren's backyard studio, Pink Ape Studios in Los Angeles, with some remote overdubbing from their home studios. Wedren describes the new songs as feeling "very much like Shudder to Think," with a focus on keeping things "playful and raw-ish."
Shudder to Think's most recent album, 50,000 B.C., was released in 1997. Since then, the band has composed original scores for several films, including High Art, First Love, Last Rites, and Velvet Goldmine, as well as releasing a live album.
Now, the band is embarking on their first tour in 17 years, featuring the same lineup as their Pony Express Record era. The current live run includes four more shows in Portland, Seattle, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
