Veteran Actor Renuka Shahane Exposes Shocking Harassment in Bollywood

In a recent interview, acclaimed actor Renuka Shahane, known for her memorable roles in films like 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!' and 'Circus', has spoken out about the shocking harassment she faced in the Bollywood industry. Shahane revealed that many years ago, a married producer visited her home and made an indecent proposal, asking her to become the brand ambassador for his saree campaign in exchange for a monthly stipend and living together.

Shahane and her mother were appalled by the producer's proposition. She immediately refused the offer, after which the campaign was given to someone else. However, Shahane explained that such refusals often lead to further victimization, where the victim may either be thrown out of projects or face coordinated efforts to trouble them further, with the added threat of not getting paid if they leave.

While Shahane clarified that she did not personally experience such retaliation, she noted that the entertainment industry frequently exposes women to such risks, especially when they choose to stand their ground.
