In a revealing interview from the past, Kaushal spoke about her hectic college life at Kinnaird College in Lahore, where she had no time for "crushes" as she was busy pursuing her passions. The actress recalled, "I had no time to fool around. I didn't have any crush, I was busy swimming, riding, skating and doing radio plays on Akashvani, for which I was paid '10! I also wrote stories."
Kaushal's life took an unexpected turn when she lost her elder sister, Usha, in a tragic accident. She then made the decision to marry her brother-in-law, B.S. Sood, an act she emphasized was not a sacrifice but an ideal solution for her nieces, Kumkum and Kavita. Despite rumors about her romance with legendary actor Dilip Kumar, Kaushal's marriage endured. In her biography, she revealed that both she and Dilip Kumar were "shattered" to part ways, but she had taken on the responsibility of her nieces and couldn't just "dump people."
