Veteran actor Sudesh Kumar Dhawan died on May 1st, at the age of 95, following a brain stroke. The actor had been admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai from April 20th to April 30th. He was brought home last week with an arranged ICU setup for continued care.
Born on March 17, 1931, in pre-independence Peshawar, Kumar pursued acting over a science degree. He began his career with Prithviraj Kapoor's theatre group. His lead role in the film Saranga brought him widespread fame. He also acted in supporting roles in films such as Chhoti Bahen and Bharosa.
Kumar's career extended to film production, with Jaan Hatheli Pe being his last project in this capacity. He is survived by his wife, Jaya, and daughter, Mishika. A prayer meet is scheduled for May 4, 2026, at FPH Banquets Hall in Mumbai.
