2 Mar
Summary
- Police filed a closure report deeming fraud claims a misconception.
- Investigation found insufficient evidence of financial irregularities.
- Bhagnani has filed a protest petition against the closure report.

The Mumbai Police submitted a closure report to the Bandra Magistrate court regarding filmmaker Vashu Bhagnani's FIR against director Ali Abbas Zafar and others. The police concluded that the complaint, alleging fraud in the production of the 2024 film 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,' was filed under a misconception. The investigation reportedly found no evidence of fake documentation, inflated payments, or misappropriation of funds, leading the police to seek the case be classified as "neither true nor false."
Bhagnani had accused his company of spending Rs 230 crore on the film and alleged a Rs 9 crore fraud without providing specific details. The police report indicated a lack of evidence to substantiate these claims. Despite the police recommendation, Bhagnani has lodged a protest petition against the closure report, challenging the investigation's outcome.
Meanwhile, representatives for Zafar and Mehra expressed confidence in the judicial process, stating that the investigative agency found no criminality. The Bandra court will now review both the closure report and Bhagnani's protest petition to decide the future course of action in this dispute.
