The 28th edition of Vasantotsava, Kalashram's renowned annual festival, recently concluded its three-day run in Delhi on February 4, 2026. This event, envisioned by the late Pt Birju Maharaj, consistently serves as a platform to celebrate and disseminate India's classical dance and music traditions.
The festival, held at Kamani Auditorium, featured a curated lineup of leading performers. Inaugurated by Dr Sachchidanand Joshi, the event also saw the conferral of the Pt Birju Maharaj Samman 2026 upon Rajan and Sajan Misra. Sajan Misra accepted the award and shared his deep connection with Birju Maharaj.
Vasantotsava 2026 paid homage to legends previously honored at the festival, including Ravi Shankar, Kumudini Lakhia, and Girija Devi. Performances by disciples of these artists, alongside numerous ensemble and solo presentations, showcased over 100 dancers. The festival culminated in a standing ovation for the trio presentation titled VYOM.
