Varun and Janhvi's Film Struggles at Box Office Despite Discounted Tickets
9 Oct
Summary
- Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari clashed with Kantara Chapter 1
- Film saw a drop in earnings on Wednesday, earning just ₹2.25 crore
- Total earnings so far stand at ₹38.75 crore
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, the October 2 release starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, has been struggling at the box office. The film, which clashed with the release of Kantara Chapter 1, saw a significant drop in its earnings on Wednesday, earning just ₹2.25 crore.
This brings the total earnings of the film to ₹38.75 crore so far. The film had opened with ₹9.25 crore at the domestic box office, and the numbers were somewhat around ₹7.5 crore over the weekend. However, since Monday, the earnings have been on a downward trend.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh noted that the film has remained "low-key" despite the benefit of discounted tickets on "Blockbuster Tuesdays." He believes that the absence of major releases until Diwali should work in favor of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, particularly at multiplexes in major centers, where it continues to perform best.
The film, directed by Shashank Khaitan, is a romantic comedy that follows the tropes of Varun Dhawan's earlier hits like Badrinath Ki Dulhania or Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. While the film has received mixed reviews, with one critic praising Janhvi Kapoor's performance, it has struggled to find its footing at the box office.
