Varun Dhawan Explains Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari's Diwali Release Shift to Avoid Thamma

In a recent interview, Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan has revealed the reason behind the release date shift of his upcoming film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari. The film, which also stars Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra and Rohit Saraf, was originally slated for a Diwali release. However, the makers decided to move the film's release to October 2, avoiding a clash with another highly anticipated movie, Thamma.

Thamma, directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan, features Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Dhawan explained that he and producer Karan Johar are good friends with Vijan and Kaushik, and they did not want to compete with their film during the Diwali period.

"Another good period for us to release would have been Diwali. But I'm very good friends with Dinoo (Dinesh Vijan) and Amar Kaushik. I've done Bhediya and Badlapur with them. Karan (Johar) is close friends with them. And you don't want to go there, if someone is your friend," said Dhawan.

Instead, the makers of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari decided to release the film on October 2, taking advantage of the Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra holidays. Dhawan acknowledged that while this is a big release date, they are not as big a film as the Kantara franchise and do not have the same level of expectations.
