Actor Varun Dhawan has revealed he turned down the opportunity to star in the critically acclaimed thriller 'Andhadhun'. Speaking on a YouTube channel, Dhawan admitted to rejecting a successful film early in his career. He stated that the original envisioned cast for 'Andhadhun' included himself and Kangana Ranaut.
Dhawan explained that he was unable to accept the role due to existing filming commitments at the time. He had previously collaborated with director Sriram Raghavan on 'Badlapur'. The role of the visually impaired pianist eventually went to Ayushmann Khurrana.
Released in 2018, 'Andhadhun' achieved significant critical and commercial success. The film, also lauded for Tabu's performance, is widely regarded as a modern classic in Hindi cinema. Meanwhile, Dhawan's latest release, a romantic comedy directed by his father, premiered on June 5, 2026.
