Actress Marano Producing Bridal Party Horror Comedy

Actress Vanessa Marano is venturing into bridal-party horror-comedy with "Ring Leader," a project she will produce and star in. Marano’s U.S. production company, Calabrian Rhode, is behind the film. This company previously produced the 2022 Netflix romantic comedy 'The Royal Treatment.'

Marano is collaborating with British Columbia-based director Jason Lapeyre, co-producing through his label Osaka Sunset Pictures. They are presenting "Ring Leader" at the Fantasia Film Festival's Frontières Co-Production Market on July 22. Their objective is to find a partner to help finalize the film's financing.

Filming is slated for British Columbia, with Marano citing Canada's tax incentives as beneficial for creating a commercially viable film. She, along with Lapeyre, developed the concept for "Ring Leader," inspired by the complex emotions of being a bridesmaid. Elana Dunkelman and Becky Shrimpton penned the script.

The Frontières Co-Production Market, running from July 22-25 at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal, provides a platform for genre projects. Marano, known for her role in 'Switched At Birth,' founded Calabrian Rhode in 2018 with her mother and sister, Laura Marano.
