Valerie Bertinelli's 'Gross' Implant Nightmare

Valerie Bertinelli has detailed the severe complications she faced after rupturing a breast implant, an ordeal that required three surgical interventions. The incident began when she fell down stairs, causing her right implant to pop. Following the initial surgery to remove it, Bertinelli developed a serious infection, with her breast turning colors and her experiencing a fever.

She sought further medical help, leading to a second surgery to clear the infection and remove the implant. This procedure resulted in a significant open wound and tissue loss, which took six months to heal. Bertinelli then underwent a third surgery to place a smaller implant and address nipple reconstruction, concluding a year-long recovery process.

Bertinelli noted that her breasts are now different sizes, with her right side misshapen. She anticipates a fourth surgery to even them out. Reflecting on the experience, she expressed gratitude for surviving the ordeal, calling it a "doozie" after a history of self-criticism.
