22 Oct
Summary
- Val Chmerkovskiy returns to DWTS on Oct. 27.
- He was suspended for a comment referencing Will Smith's Oscars slap.
- Chmerkovskiy apologized to Carrie Ann Inaba for his remark.
Val Chmerkovskiy will return to the Dancing With the Stars ballroom on October 27th for the "Horror Movie Night" episode. His comeback follows a one-week suspension from the ABC competition.
The suspension was imposed by BBC Studios due to a social media post made by Chmerkovskiy. This post seemed to reference Will Smith's 2022 Oscars slap after judge Carrie Ann Inaba criticized his wife, Jenna Johnson.
Chmerkovskiy issued an apology to Inaba, stating his intention was not malicious and expressing regret for becoming a distraction. He also reassured his dance partner, Jenna Dewan, that he was focused on their performance. Co-host Alfonso Ribeiro briefly acknowledged his absence during the preceding week's show.
