Summary

- He experienced severe dizziness and disorientation, impacting his tour performance.
- Doctors are managing his condition, with hopes for a Tuesday return.

Val Chmerkovskiy, a professional dancer on Dancing With the Stars, was recently admitted to a hospital in Peoria, Illinois, due to a severe bout of vertigo. He shared his condition with fans via an Instagram video from his hospital bed, stating he had been experiencing dizziness for several days. This condition, medically known as Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), involves disturbances in the inner ear's vestibular system, leading to intense dizziness and balance issues.
Chmerkovskiy mentioned that the "crystals" in his inner ear, which help with equilibrium, had become dislodged. This made even simple movements, like being on a moving bus, extremely disorienting. Despite the debilitating symptoms, he managed to complete a show the previous day before seeking further medical attention. He expressed hope for a quick recovery and a return to the tour by Tuesday, thanking his tour staff for their support.
The Dancing With the Stars tour features professional dancers and celebrity contestants from recent seasons. This tour cycle includes official cohost Emma Slater and other pros like Danielle Karagach and Brandon Armstrong. Season 34 winner Witney Carson and her partner Robert Irwin are scheduled to join later in the tour.
