On October 2nd, 2025, Bal Bhavan in Vadodara organized its annual Open Baroda Garba Competition for students in Grades 4 to 6. The event, supported by the Shri M B Patel Charity Trust, aimed to promote cultural awareness and traditional folk art among children.
Twelve teams from various schools in the city participated in the competition, presenting captivating traditional and classical garba performances. The panel of judges, comprising Nima Gadhia-Hukeri, Poonam Rawal, and Nina Desai, evaluated the performances and selected the winners.
Sant Kabir School emerged as the champion, taking home the first prize. Bright Day School, Vasna, secured the second position, while New Era Senior Secondary School clinched the third place. The winning teams were awarded trophies, medals, and certificates in recognition of their efforts.
The event encouraged children to connect with Gujarat's rich cultural heritage and celebrate the vibrant garba tradition in its authentic form. It provided a platform for young talents to showcase their skills and passion for this beloved folk art.
