United Talent Agency (UTA) has announced the signing of Cypriot filmmaker Myrsini Aristidou, who will be represented in all areas. Aristidou, originally from Limassol, Cyprus, recently celebrated a significant achievement with her debut feature film, "Hold Onto Me." The movie premiered in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, where it was honored with the Audience Award.
This Cyprus-Greece-Denmark co-production, with U.S. participation, tells the story of a young girl's attempt to connect with her estranged father. Aristidou's filmmaking education includes an MFA in Film Directing from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and a BFA in Film and Art History from Pratt Institute.
Aristidou's prior work also includes critically acclaimed short films. Her 2015 short, "Semele," premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and earned a Special Jury Prize at the Berlin International Film Festival. Her subsequent short, "Aria," supported by Spike Lee and Canal+ France, debuted at the Venice International Film Festival before screening at Sundance.
Beyond her directing career, Aristidou is recognized as the founder of One Six One Films and a co-founder of the Sagapo Children's Foundation, highlighting her multifaceted engagement with the film industry and philanthropy.
