His eldest son, Usher V, born November 27, 2007, has navigated significant health challenges, including a near-drowning incident and a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes at age six. Usher V prefers to be known by his nickname to differentiate himself from his famous father.

Sovereign Bo, born September 24, 2020, and Sire Castrello, born September 29, 2021, are Usher's younger children with Jenn Goicoechea. Both were born during the COVID-19 pandemic, a period Usher described as one that highlighted the importance of family.
Usher often speaks about the unique challenges of raising children amidst his fame, noting that his kids sometimes prefer to maintain a low profile away from his celebrity spotlight. He reflects on the lessons learned from his own father and his determination to provide a different experience for his children.
