Veteran Actress Slams Industry Arrogance

Veteran actress Usha Nadkarni, known for her candid nature, has spoken out about attitudes within the film industry. She recently shared her admiration for South Indian superstar Vijay Sethupathi, who starred alongside her in the silent film 'Gandhi Talks'. Nadkarni highlighted Sethupathi's remarkable humility, noting that despite being a major star, he often sat on the floor cross-legged with the crew rather than demanding special treatment.

This grounded behavior by Sethupathi led Nadkarni to contrast it with what she frequently observes in the Marathi and Hindi film industries. She expressed disappointment that even actors with minor success often display significant arrogance, leading her to remark that "Today's actors feel like they are in Hollywood." Nadkarni emphasized that Sethupathi's simplicity and respect, even on the last day of shooting, were particularly touching.

She also mentioned other Bollywood colleagues who left a positive impression, including Jackie Shroff and Akshay Kumar, describing Kumar as feeling like "one of us." Nadkarni concluded by reflecting that actors who have experienced struggle often understand the value of humility. However, she reiterated her criticism of those in the industry who develop excessive pride after minimal success, likening them to "Hollywood-level" personalities.
