Conversations are underway for an American adaptation of the successful BBC comedy-thriller 'Black Ops.' Co-creator Akemnji Ndifornyen alluded to these developments, stating that "things are bubbling" regarding a potential Hollywood remake. He humorously suggested that the prospect of a US version is a constant thought, citing financial incentives.
The critically acclaimed series, co-created by Ndifornyen alongside Gbemisola Ikumelo and starring Hammed Animashaun, follows two community support officers who go undercover within the Greater London Police. 'Black Ops' has emerged as a significant comedy success for the BBC, recently receiving a greenlight for its third season. Hulu had previously purchased the US rights for Season 1 in late 2024.
Ndifornyen also playfully suggested potential casting for a US version, envisioning a West Coast rapper for his character, Tevin. Gbemisola Ikumelo proposed Keke Palmer as a suitable choice for her role. The pair shared these insights during their appearance at the BBC Comedy Festival in Liverpool.
