The film, released on July 31, opened with 70 lakh and had a cumulative net collection of 2.92 crore by its fifth day. This is a considerable shortfall, with Officer On Duty having earned 10.8 crore in its first five days, making Unmadham's collection 73% less.
Unmadham faced competition from 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' in Kerala and is set to face more pressure with the release of Vismaya Mohanlal's 'Thudakkam' this Friday, which also features a cameo by Mohanlal. This upcoming release is anticipated to draw audience attention away from Unmadham. Despite being made on a small budget, the film needs a substantial increase in collections to achieve a turnaround, a trend that has not yet materialized.
