Malayalam filmmaker Don Palathara's new feature, 'The Uncertainty Principle' (Ekadesham), is set to have its world premiere at Filmfest Aachen 2026 in Germany. The film will compete in the festival's main section.
'The Uncertainty Principle' focuses on a group of young adults in Kochi, depicting their struggles with uncertain careers, relationships, and everyday challenges. Director Don Palathara, who also penned and edited the film, explained its experimental nature, drawing inspiration from physics. He described it as playful and layered, not overly serious.
The film is scheduled to screen at Apollo Kino & Bar, Aachen, on September 25, 2026, at 8 pm. Palathara will not attend the premiere; an actor will represent the film, while he and the producer plan to visit other festivals later. He highlighted that the movie explores the dreams and industry challenges faced by aspiring filmmakers.
Filmed with a small, independent crew of six, the production allowed for greater creative freedom. Palathara mentioned doing some of the camera work himself with a hand-held camera, which facilitated shooting in public spaces. The cast, including Roshan Mathew, Divya Prabha, Vinay Forrt, and Aarsha Baiju, fully supported the film's unique vision and scale.
