Umesh Shukla Adapts Another Hit Play: Madhuri vs Dixit Film Next

Filmmaker Umesh Shukla, celebrated for adapting his hit Gujarati plays into successful Bollywood films such as 'OMG Oh My God' and '102 Not Out,' is embarking on his next cinematic venture. He announced that his acclaimed play, 'Madhuri vs Dixit,' will be adapted for the screen. This marks Shukla's first foray into directing a Gujarati film. The play premiered in Hindi on April 26 in Mumbai, following a successful run of its Gujarati predecessor, 'Madhuri Dixit,' which had 149 shows. The script for the film adaptation is in its final stages. Shukla intends to primarily use the same cast from the play and is considering making the film in Gujarati first, with a potential bilingual Hindi-Gujarati release. The original play's concept has also seen adaptations in other languages, including Marathi and Hindi, under different titles, mirroring the multilingual success of 'Kanji Viruddh Kanji.' Shukla is also in contact with actress Madhuri Dixit, hoping she can attend an upcoming show.
