28 Feb
Summary
- Family suing Eduardo Umansky's girlfriend for financial elder abuse.
- Allegations include spending over $150K of his money in 2023.
- Lawsuit seeks over $400K in damages for financial exploitation.

Mauricio Umansky's family has initiated legal action against his father Eduardo's girlfriend, Simin Tabibnia, accusing her of financial elder abuse. Sharon Umansky Bento, acting as Eduardo's conservator, filed the lawsuit detailing allegations of significant financial exploitation.
Court documents reveal that Eduardo Umansky, a former real estate agent, experienced cognitive decline starting in 2021, impacting his ability to manage his affairs. The family alleges that Simin Tabibnia misused Eduardo's funds between 2022 and 2024.
Specifically, the suit claims Tabibnia spent over $150,000 of Eduardo's money in 2023 for personal gain, including jewelry purchases and paying for a facelift and car payments. This spending occurred without the family's consent.
Eduardo's retirement account reportedly decreased from $1.2 million to $610,000 during this period. The total amount allegedly misused by Tabibnia exceeds $400,000 across 2022, 2023, and 2024.
The legal battle comes after the family secured a restraining order against Tabibnia on Eduardo's behalf. They are seeking to recover over $400,000 in damages. Tabibnia had previously filed her own restraining order against Eduardo, which his family denies.
