The U.S.-Ukraine co-production "Immortal Flowers" secured top honors at the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival's industry awards. Directed by Brian Logvinsky, the debut documentary delves into the vibrant underground rave culture in Ukraine.
The film earned the top prize in the Docs in Progress section and a post-production award. It offers a unique narrative, blending documentary and fictional elements to portray young Ukrainians seeking solace and escape in dance parties.
"Immortal Flowers" highlights the resilience of youth, capturing their spirit amidst strict curfews, air raids, and the ongoing conflict with Russian forces. The jury lauded the film's intimate access to energetic young people living fearlessly despite uncertain futures.
The festival also recognized other films, including Ana Vijdea's "Nava Mamă" and Thanassis Vassiliou's "Unwanted Past." The ceremony marked the departure of Agora head Angeliki Vergou, who will transition to an advisory role.
