Udaybir Sandhu, currently enjoying success for his role in 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge,' has spoken about a significant near-career opportunity. He revealed that he had auditioned for the lead part in the 2024 film 'Amar Singh Chamkila,' a role ultimately portrayed by Diljit Dosanjh.
Sandhu explained that director Imtiaz Ali's preference for a singer for the titular role led to the casting decision. Despite his strong audition and thorough investment in the character, the filmmakers opted for a singer, believing they could better perform the part.
However, Sandhu expressed no bitterness about missing out. He understood the decision and acknowledged Diljit Dosanjh's excellent performance. Importantly, the audition process for 'Amar Singh Chamkila' proved fruitful, as it directly led to him being considered for another role within the same film.
Reflecting on his career path, the former national-level hockey player from Punjab emphasized the value of struggle and perseverance. He believes that early success without hardship can lead to complacency. Sandhu's Bollywood debut was in 'Gold' (2018) and he has also appeared in 'Ikk Kudi'.
