U2 surprised fans by releasing their new six-song EP, 'Days of Ash,' on Ash Wednesday. The EP includes a poem by Yehuda Amichai and five new songs, one of which features Ed Sheeran and Taras Topolia. These tracks were recorded over the past year and focus on real individuals whose lives were cut short.
Bono stated that the songs on 'Days of Ash' are distinct in mood and theme from their forthcoming album, describing the EP's tracks as "songs of defiance and dismay, of lamentation." He emphasized that these songs were urgent and needed to be released. The EP is also accompanied by a short documentary for the song 'Yours Eternally,' set for release next week.
Alongside the EP, U2 is releasing a new edition of their 'Propaganda' zine, featuring lyrics, member notes, and interviews. The band's next full-length album is expected in late 2026, following their 2023 release. This follows recent statements from the band regarding the conflict in Gaza.
