U2 has released a surprise six-song EP titled 'Easter Lily,' available now on YouTube and all streaming platforms. This new collection follows closely behind their EP 'Days of Ash.'
Unlike its predecessor, 'Easter Lily' shifts focus from politics to spiritual matters, exploring themes of friendship, loss, and hope. Bono described the EP as a response to "wilderness years," with songs prompting personal questions about relationships, faith, and the search for meaning.
The EP includes "Song For Hal," a tribute to Hal Wilner featuring The Edge on lead vocals, and "In a Life," an ode to friendship. "Scars" draws inspiration from post-punk and explores self-acceptance, while "Resurrection Song" has roots in an older demo.
"Easter Parade" evolved from older U2 ideas into a spiritual track, and the EP concludes with "COEXIST (I Will Bless The Lord At All Times?)," featuring a soundscape by Brian Eno. These 12 tracks from both EPs will not be on U2's upcoming studio album.
